Where to Buy Capes and Cloaks (Winter Fashion for Goths)
Sometimes I'm a mermaid. And sometimes... I'm a Gothic Gothy Goth Viking looking witchy thing that is NOT EVIL. This puts me in a unique situation when it comes to shopping. Especially in the Winter. How do you wear Goth clothing in the winter, I mean... really!?!? Well, I kinda decided on a solution to that problem. I. Bought. An. Epic. Cape. (And it's not just some ordinary cape either!)
So, where do you buy a cape? I was browsing the internet a while ago and came across a website called DevilNight (DevilNightUK). It is a company that is supposedly based out of the United Kingdom.
DevilNight UK: A Place to Buy Goth Clothing
DevilNight (DevilNightUK) is a Goth clothing company that sells Gothic, Steampunk and other Alternative Fashion Clothes. However... they don't actually make all of the clothing that they sell. Although they do have their own line of Goth and Alternative Fashion items, DevilNight sells a lot of Brand Name clothing from other alternative stores. My cape was bought through their company but is really a PunkRave product. Kinda confusing, huh?
At DevilNight, you can buy all sorts of things ranging from capes and cloaks to Victorian era dresses and Platform Boots. It's a pretty neat website, and I encourage you to check it out at https://www.DevilNight.co.uk But... should you actually make a purchase from them? Keep reading...
My DevilNight Clothing Haul
Before I go into my buying experience with this company, I should probably give you the details about what I bought. Here is practically everything I know about my furry winter viking cape that apparently looks like it is from Game of Thrones (which I have NEVER seen, by the way.... just so we're clear!):

- BRAND: PunkRave
- NAME: "Black Gothic Wool Collar Long Cloak for Women"
- FABRIC MATERIAL: 100% Polyester
- LINING MATERIAL: 50% Polyester 30% Acrylicfiber 20% Kanecaron
- FUR MATERIAL: Some sort of Fake Fur??? (It's so soft though!)
- PRICE: About $110.00 USD + Shipping
Is DevilNight Reliable and Should you Buy from them? DevilNight Review
Should you buy from DevilNight UK? Will you actually get the product you ordered from them? Is Devil Night a scam website? My experience buying from DevilNight was unique, to say the least. It was for sure the most I've worried about my identity being stolen in a long while... hahaha! 😅
I decided to order my cape from DevilNight after having seen that one of my favorite bloggers, FaeTeeth, orders some of her clothing from them. I like her. I trust her. Therefore... I decided to give this site a shot. If I tell the truth and nothing but the truth though... I don't really know what to say about this store.
After adding like a bazillion items to my "wishlist" and asking every one of my family members to help me decide which to buy between the countless ones I favorited, I ended up purchasing the cape that's seen in the picture at the top of this blog post. What I bought is a very fashionable Winter Cape that I utterly ADORE (and so do the people of my town who watched me light our community's Christmas Tree!). I do NOT regret having bought the cape, and I will love the frickin' threads out of that thing!!!
Here's what was a bit fishy (and not in a mermaid sort of way!)
Buying from DevilNight: UK or China???
DevilNight UK. The company's URL says UK, which stands for the United Kingdom, right!?!?! I am still so confused about this. It hurts me.
Okay, so I bought my cape a few days before Thanksgiving and received it in the mail on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The shipping was FAST! I have no complaints about that. But, what did throw me off was the package that the UPS guy (who is such a nice guy, by the way) delivered to me. I got a yucky colored yellow bundle of packing tape. It was lumpy and bumpy. It was heavy. And it said it was a $10.00 "Sample" from CHINA. Maybe the labeling it as a "Sample" was a way to cut down the costs of overseas shipping, but the part about it being from China... come again??? To make things even more interesting, the invoice that came along with my item did NOT list the product I bought OR the price that I paid for it.
Also, might I add that the cape was literally rolled up in a ball and wrapped shoved into a big ball of packing tape. Did you watch the unboxing video? It was SO difficult to get my cape out of the packaging mess without slicing it with the scissors. Not much care was taken in wrapping my poor baby. It will now get all of the tender love and care that it did not get as a wee thread of fabric.

The Bottom Line...
Alright, so should you buy from DevilNightUK? I got what I ordered. I LOVE what I ordered. I got it very quickly. Am I happy with my purchase? Yes.
Would I recommend that you buy from this company? I honestly can't say that I know what to tell you. They seem like a legit company, as I did get what I paid for and I have not yet had any weirdness going on with my bank accounts/personal information. Their packaging sucks and they kinda seem to have tendency to lie (my cape was advertised as being "wool," to add to the list of lies... which it is not!). I really, really, REALLY do want to like them. Like... I LOVE them but don't fully trust them at the same time (sorta like one of those ex-lovers who you still have feelings for, but the feelings are equally hostile as they are that of love? 😥). I strongly feel that you should do business with them using caution.
(P.S.) They featured me on Instagram, by the way! So this makes me feel like a terrible person writing the review that I did... I hope they can prove to me and you that they really are legit and worth our trust. DevilNight... I WANT TO BUY EVERYTHING BUT THIS MERMAID IS SKEPTICAL!!!! Please, please, please prove to me that you're good. Pretty please.
