WHO IS MERMAID SHADOW?
Mermaid Shadow is one of the original mermaid characters of The Magic Crafter. Shadow has a black mermaid tail that has colorshifting red and gold tiger stripes that fade to black in certain lighting. This mermaid is a river dweller who has been alive for many, many years.
It is said that this mermaid was once captured by a fisherman’s net while traveling through a river in China. She was rescued by the arrival of the pirate, Gan Ning (if this was a direct rescue or simply the result of his arrival scaring off the fisherman is not clear). In an attempt to both honor her hero and mimic the feared pirate, Shadow began wearing bells around her waist. While the bells did work in scaring away would-be captors in the time the river pirate haunted the waterways, it doesn’t work quite so well in modern time.
Speaking of time, Mermaid Shadow has no sense of it (or direction) and still collects bells, silk and crow feathers to take back to her beloved pirate crew (who has long since perished).
She is shy, but friendly, and is currently stuck in the Great Lakes, where she often steals Mermaid Phantom’s treasure. If you’d like to find this mermaid, listen for bells near the water or the sounds of bells ringing underwater- she is very noisy! She is also quite friendly with the crows, so you may find her enjoying their company.
