A Mermaid from once upon a time...

A Mermaid Drawing from Long Ago

Back in my younger years, I used to spend a good portion of my time living in my own fairytale land through drawing, sculpting, and  crafting. I longed to live in a world full of magic and excitement, and to go on adventures through enchanted forests, fairy-filled marshlands, and mountain ranges whose peaks touched the skies where the dragons flew. But... I was stuck doing stuff like learning about Van der Waals Interactions instead. Hurray!!!

So, to quench my thirst for myth and magic, I spent a TON of time trying desperately to create my own fairytale sanctuary through my artwork. Below is one of the mermaids that I started drawing, but never got around to finishing... Hahaha! I usually only drew dragons, so I was pretty happy with how non-beastly this mer turned out (even if her fingers are a bit of a mess!)!

I don't doodle much anymore, since it makes my wrists hurt too much, though it used to be one of my favorite pastimes. But I don't really miss it, because let's face it... who would rather dream about having a magical life than actually living one!?! (It's much easier on the wrists too! ;D)

I have a silly habit of starting drawing and not finishing them... the "Not Hair" note was a reminder to myself that the strange dangly piece near the mermaid's hair is actually part of her top. I meant to finish this one, but I never did!

Despite that I no longer have a need to draw up a magical world to live in, I may someday have to give it another go, just for kicks!

Any other dreamers out there? Pay close attention to the story that your artwork is trying to tell you... you never know what path it may take you down!
