Where to Buy Fabric Mermaid Tails for Swimming
Should you Buy a Fabric Mermaid Tail?
Fabric mermaid tails are great! I own a Fin Fun mermaid tail and I STILL use it even though I have a silicone mermaid tail. Why do I like my fabric mermaid tail? Well, it is SO much easier to get into than my silicone tail, for starts! Also, fabric mermaid tails are relatively inexpensive, easy to care for, lightweight and easy to travel with! Even though they aren't quite as realistic as other types of mermaid tails, most of them do look pretty great in the water! Swimming with a fabric mermaid tail is the perfect place to start your journey as a mermaid. There are SO many colors and styles to chose from! Curious to learn more? Places to Buy a Swimmable Fabric Mermaid Tail
With the age of the internet upon us, gone are the days of having to hand-make every weird thing that we want... like mermaid tails! Granted, I've never made my own mermaid tail, but I have made some other weird things before... THAT'S ASIDE THE POINT!! Hehehe! If you do want to become a mermaid and own your very own mermaid tail, luckily you can buy them online from tons of different retailers. I have compiled a list of fabric mermaid tail makers below. From the research I've done, all of these companies have good ratings and are actually legit companies, not scammers. HOWEVER! Always be sure to do your own research and trust your gut before making any purchases online. Click on any of the tail-maker headings to go to their websites.
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): $70+
Fin Fun Mermaids is the place that I bought my very first mermaid tail from! Hurray!! I am the proud owner of one of their "Jia's Asian Magenta" mermaid tails. Although it is quite old and is starting to show wear-and-tear after 2 years of use... I'd say it is a great product! Fin Fun is an United States based Tail-Maker that has tons of pretty designs. They also have a "Custom Tail Creator" feature that lets you upload your own design and have it printed on one of their tails. My sister has her custom-made tail on the way soon, which is very exciting! Fin Fun sells tails for adults and for children.
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN):$80+
I've never bought a Sun Tail Mermaid tail... but they look really, really pretty! Sun Tail Mermaid has many unique designs and even has the option to shop "gender neutral." Their tails have beautiful scale patterns and the fluke has a nice point to it! Personally, I've always been a fan of their Aurora Borealis Tail! Sun Tail Mermaid creates tails for both children and adults.
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): $100+
The MerTailor... oooohhh... where to start. The Mertailor does not exclusively make fabric mermaid tails like most of the other companies on this list. The owner, Eric (and his team), make silicone mermaid tails, neoprene tails, silicone monofins, wetsuits, swimtops, fabric mermaid tails and more. Ugh. But as for The MerTailor's fabric tails, they are a bit pricier than some other fabric tails on the market, but they are SO FREAKIN' GORGEOUS!! With unique color combinations and innovative designs, this is the tail maker for the modern mermaids and mermen out there! ♥
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): Just under $100+ (depending on style/size)
How to explain SwimTails? Well, this tailmaker swings to all extremes. They have super-cheerful bright tail designs AND darker, spookier designs. They offer extremely realistic Neoprene tails (which we'll discuss in another blog post) and fun novelty printed fabric tails. They have a pretty big selection of tails to choose from to match just about any occasion. While their novelty prints do seem to be targeted towards children, all of their tails come in child and adult sizes.
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): $218+

Mermaid and Mom is an Etsy store that is run by a mother and daughter team!! They sells unique handmade fabric mermaid tails and other mermaid-related goods. Their tails are unlike anything you can buy from a company that mass-produces mermaid tails. Unlike most tails, theirs are handmade and can therefore be made-to-order. They create tails for adults and children, and each one is a beautiful sight! Make sure you take a look at some of the pictures on Mermaid and Mom's Etsy Store. There are some very lovely details added to their tails that are super shiny!! ♥

The fabric mermaid tails from Aquariuz are FIERCE!! I mean, some have that classic "mermaid princess" feel, which is nice, but a lot of the designs have an edgy siren vibe to them! I really dig it!! Her tails are handmade and can be custom-ordered to create your own one-of-a-kind mermaid tail. The owner, Trinity, does a wonderful job of bringing her tails to life with intricate details. On some tails, she adds beautiful fins, lovely sequin accents and fabric that trails gracefully behind the monofin of her tails. I am in LOVE with her tails and you need to give them a look! Click the large-font header text above this paragraph to visit her site. ♥
(P.S.) Not all of her tails require a monofin to swim in!
PRICE (WITHOUT MONOFIN): $85+
LOCATION: Canada (Etsy Store)
A fabric mermaid tail... WITH INDIVIDUAL SCALES!?!? Yes!!! VirtuoSew is another Etsy store that is run by fantastic team of two talented ladies! They offer some of the most realistic fabric mermaid tails that you can get your hands on! Since their tails are custom made, they do cost a bit more than some other fabric mermaid tails that you'll find for sale. The more you chose to add on to your tail, the higher the price... and the more beautiful the design! Honestly, if there is a tail that could rival the realistic appeal of silicone mermaid tails, it would be a custom-made VirtuoSew tail with individual scales and ethereal flowing fins. You've got to take a look at their tails (and other products!)!
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): Approximately $145 USD
I'll be the first to admit... their website leaves you longing for more... but their tails? WHAT A DREAM! Mermaid Athiraa (from Sweden), is always wearing one and has really gotten me interested in purchasing one! Probably one of the most attractive features that MagicTail has is their uniquely pointed monofin design. The fluke of their tails are pointed like a real fish's tail! That's not something most tailmakers have! And like Fin Fun mermaids, you can upload your own designs to their "Design your own Mermaid Tail" feature. Another thing I feel that I should point out is that this brand offers a variety of different monofin options for their tails to meet different experiences levels. Thoughtful, right?!? MagicTails are definitely magical! ♥
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): $100+
These Delfina Mermaid Tails have fins printed onto them!!! Eeeekkk!!! How cool is that? Delfina Mermaid has very vibrant tail designs that look quite realistic. And like MagicTail, the end of their tails are pointed like a real fish tail. They sell tails for adults and children and all of them are super colorful! Their "Purple Night" tail reminds me of Spyro the Dragon too! Hehehe!
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): $150+
Mermaid Kat Shop is another tail-maker that DOES NOT make just fabric mermaid tails. This tail-maker makes silicone mermaid tails AND fabric mermaid tails! Although the tails from Mermaid Kat Shop aren't as realistic as some other fabric mermaid tails, they do look nice and there are quite a few color options to choose from. This brand even has Princess Mermaid tails, which are very "Disney" looking!
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): $105+
I got to meet the owner of this company at Mermaid MegaFest 2018! She was such a sweetheart! AquaMermaid fabric tails are very lovely. I had the chance to see the owner (Mermaid Marielle) swimming in one of her tails in Mermaid Morgana's giant tank! Originally, I thought AquaMermaid Tails weren't that realistic looking, and the bright colors did not appeal to me... BUT!!! After seeing her tail in the water? GOSH! These tails look great in the water and glow with a unique beauty of their own. AquaMermaid Tails not only look great, but they do go the extra mile as far as safety goes too. These tails have zippers on the end of the tails to give easy access to the monofin inside of the tail AND your feet, in case you need to transform back into a human quickly. This tail-maker sells fabric mermaid tails, sequin mermaid tails and silicone mermaid tails.
PRICE (WITH MONOFIN): $70+
LOCATION: Japan & France
Abyss Mermaid seems to be a newer company. They have a mix of different fabric tail designs, and some of them are quite realistic looking! I don't know much about this company, although a few other Professional Mermaids do use their tails. It is worth your time to check out their tails and see how you feel about them!
Below is a list of other fabric tail-maker that were suggested by viewers and readers just like you! This list will be updated as new reputable tail-makers are brought to my attention, so make sure to check back frequently!
