10 Things you Need to do this Autumn

10 Things to do this Fall (and how to make them even more fabulous)

Looking for things to do this Autumn? Let me help get you thinking with these 10 simple ideas (5 ideas for indoors, and 5 things to do outdoors). They are sure to help you make the most out of this wonderful time of the year!

Comfy and Cozy Indoors...

1. Sip on something hot

It's pumpkin spice latte season! But, if that's not really your cup of tea, then you could always sip on an actual cup of tea! Hot cocoa and hot apple cider are also perfect this time of the year, but personally, I like a steaming mug of black coffee the best. Having something warm to sip on just feels so good on these chilly Autumn days!

2. Get Cozy

Cozy up with a warm flannel blanket this fall and pick up a good book or watch one of your favorite movies. There's something so pleasant about being all bundled up in a chunk of fabric on a cool night... extra special if you have some hot tea to go along with it! ;)

3. Get Creative

Fall crafts are simply the best! The craft stores always have such cute things on their shelves, and even if you can't make it out to your crafting store, nature provides tons of fun materials to work with. So, pull out a permanent marker and doodle on a pumpkin, glue-and-glitter some pine cones, make a wreath out of twigs and wheat grass, or do whatever it is your creative heart desires. :) I even have a few crafting projects you can DIY here, though not all of the fall ones are up yet!

4. Decorate

Have you put up your Halloween or Thanksgiving decorations yet? Even if you aren't one to station a scarecrow in your yard, it is lots of fun to decorate your home in less creepy ways. For example, you could do this by putting pumpkins on the front porch, or by swapping your regular hand towels for ones with seasonal prints. Home decoration is one of my favorite ways to get in touch with the seasons... especially in the fall!

5. Light a Candle

Whether you are sipping on some hot tea, cozying up in a blanket, or learning a new craft or two, your time will no doubt be much more enjoyable under the soothing light of a good-smelling candle. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like candles have the power to make any moment feel extra special and relaxing too!

Cool and Crisp Outdoors...

6. Jump in a pile of leaves

After you rake them up, that is! This might not be the best thing to do if you have allergies, though. However, if you don't, you should make sure to plop yourself down in a big pile of Autumn leaves and just rolling around in them for a bit. There's something super satisfying about it, don't you think? It's even more fun to do with a friend too!

7. Pick a Pumpkin

Without pumpkins, fall just wouldn't be the same. So this season, be certain to pay your local pumpkin patch a visit to pluck one of those cute little orange globes. Whether you want to carve it or not is up to you!

8. Take a Nature Hike

Getting outdoors is a huge MUST for me come Autumn. I love how cool and crisp the air is, and how wonderful all of the sights and smells are this time of the year. Even if taking hikes isn't one of your typical pastimes, you ought to give it a go while the colors are at their prime and while the air smells oh-so-fresh. And just think... if you get a bit chilly, you can always follow up the exploration with a warm drink and a cozy blanket! ;D

9. Go to a Corn Maze

I have so many fond memories from my childhood that involve family trips to the corn maze. As it turns out, getting lost out in a field is a really great time when in the company of friends and family. Many farmers who have corn mazes also tend to have pumpkin patches too, so you can kill two birds with one stone should you choose to go to one... which you should, because it is a blast!

10. Go to a Festival

If you check around your local area, I'm sure you'll find a festival or two that celebrates the harvest season that you can attend. This year, I will be visiting the Charlevoix Apple Festival with some of my family, and it is something that I look forward to each year. Festivals aren't just a great way to really get yourself into the mood for fall, but they also make for the perfect opportunity to bond with your loved ones. (And who knows, one of your local mermaids or fairies could be found enjoying the festivities! ;D)

And if you want to get the most out of each and every moment...

11. Give Thanks!

Be grateful for all of the wonderful things surrounding you. Sure, everything on this list is fun to do, but each and every thing becomes even more special when you stop to appreciate the moment spent enjoying it. So, be thankful for the beautiful fall colors, and for all that harvest season brings. And remember to show those near and dear to you just how much you love them.

Speaking of "giving thanks," I'm super appreciative of you guys! This Thanksgiving, I'm hoping to create a video on all of the things I'm grateful for, and I encourage you to create your own list as well. :)

Thanks so much for reading!
